How To Copy & Paste A Telegram Post/Channel Link (Easy Steps)

Telegram is a great for the spreading of alternative information, but users new to the platform might not be immediately familiar with how to do the same things as on other platforms, like copying and pasting links. For example, you might want to copy a link to a good post on Telegram to send to someone, or even the link to an entire channel.

That’s what we’re going to cover in this quick guide. Thankfully, it’s really easy on Telegram to copy URLs (links) to both individual posts and entire channels/groups, ready to paste in and send somewhere else.

Here are quick steps:

  • Copy a post link – Tap on the post and tap Copy Link
  • Copy a channel link – Tap the blue banner at the top of the channel page, tap Invite Link and then Copy Link
  • Press and hold any search bar/box/field on a phone, and then tap Paste to paste the copied link in.

Now let’s run through illustrated steps.

How to Copy A Link Of An Individual Post On Telegram

Telegram is fantastic for alternative information and tips on things, and there are lot of posts on there that users want to copy the link to spread this useful information to others.

Doing this is super easy on the mobile Telegram app, you just tap the post in question on your phone/tablet screen, and an option to Copy Link comes up:

Tap on this, and the link to that Telegram post is now copied to your clipboard, ready to be pasted in and sent elsewhere.

If you don’t already have the Telegram post in front of you, and need to find it, pull up the channel it was posted on by tapping on it if it’s on your channel list, or using the search magnifying glass in the top right corner of the home page. Find and load up the channel, and then tap the 3 dots icon and then Search in the top right corner. Then search for keywords the post contained, and a search list of that channel comes up that you can scroll through to find the post you want. See our guide on finding a past Telegram post for more complete steps and screenshots.

Desktop – If you’re on desktop and using the most basic version of Telegram on a browser without being signed in, there’s no way yet to copy individual post links. It’s really only a preview version where you can view posts. To copy the links, you need to either download the Telegram desktop app, or sign in on desktop using a QR code on your phone. Using the full app, it’s the same as mobile, except you’re clicking/right clicking on posts instead of tapping them, but it’s pretty much the same process.

Pasting – Once you’ve got the link copied, on a mobile device, just press and hold any box/field/search bar you want to paste it into for 1-2 seconds, and a Paste option should come up for you to tap to paste this copied Telegram post link into an email, search engine, article, your own Telegram post, whatever.

How To Copy The Link Of An Entire Telegram Channel/Group/Chat

Now what if you want to copy the link to an entire channel to share with others? This is also really easy on mobile/tablet.

You just need to load up the channel, but instead tap on the blue banner at the top of the channel, where the owner’s name, thumbnail and 3 dots icon are:

A channel descriptions/options page pops up. Tap on Invite Link:

And then tap on Copy Link on the menu that pops up:

That channel link is now copied to your clipboard, ready to be pasted in anywhere else you like by pressing and holding a box/field/search bar on your phone and tapping Paste.

Hint – Be sure you’re copying the correct/real Telegram channel link, as there’s lots of fake/scammer/copycat channels on there impersonating real people or trying to con users. See here for our guide on spotting these fake channels.

Desktop – If you’re using the Telegram desktop app, it works exactly the same as on mobile, but you’re clicking instead of tapping. If using the basic preview version of Telegram on a desktop browser, you can copy channel links just as you’d copy any other links in your browser, by double clicking on the channel URL displayed in the browser address bar at the top to highlight it blue, and then right clicking and selecting Copy.

Alternatively you can just search for the channel name plus “Telegram” on any search engine, then right click on it in the search results and click “Copy link address“.

Once copied, you can then drop this channel link in anywhere else by right clicking where you want to paste it and clicking Paste.
